Christmas Luncheon 2012 report
The Nottingham Branch held their annual Xmas Lunch at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Nottingham on Friday 6th December 2012. As normal the event was sold out weeks before.
Stuart Lindsay from Lindsay Finance was the mail sponsor. After serving 25 years as Welfare Officer Sid Dilkes handed over the role to Julija Greaves, to acknowledge his hard work & dedication Julija on behalf of the Nottingham Branch presented Sid with a portrait, Julija then presented a cheque to the Benevolent Chairman Mark Everett for £20,000 which was raised in 2012 by the Nottingham Branch through various fund raising events & donations.
The days entertainment included of one of the top ventriquilist in the country Jimmy Tamley who entertained the audience and finished off his act by convincing Branch Secretary Jade Walker & Mick Mottershaw from Kal Tire to join him on stage. Video here:
Richard Ellis was busy producing a personal caricature for those wishing to make a donation.
Louise Harby from Shaping Skills sponsored a bottle of champagne for a business card draw.
Committee member Chris Balls from J C Balls & Sons had previously completed The Lighthouse Club John O’ Groats to Land End Rally, Chris then auctioned off two of the rally cars, Ben Elliott from BTE Plant Sales & Dave Bowring from Bowring Transport were the winning bidders.
Our MC for the day Geoff Harris kept good time & order to allow the proceedings to flow to give time for Chairman Edward Pollard speech & thanks, Geoff also arranged the Whisky Draw, Heads & Tails and auction off a number of prizes.
